He remarks in this column, somewhat gratuitously, on what he regards as the "frequent" misstatements that "the media" have made in covering the impeachment inquiry, "as usual." This comment is unfair to the good work that mainstream journalists other than Fox News have generally done in covering these events. It is also reckless to the extent that it gives aid and comfort to President Trump and his supporters in his strategy of promoting distrust of the media, even to the point of condoning violence against journalists, as part of his strategy of gaining and holding power.Kenneth Josthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08130278447396616546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8746692.post-48613891883329208692019-09-29T23:50:11.133-04:002019-09-29T23:50:11.133-04:00"Biden is on video at some conference I viewe..."Biden is on video at some conference I viewed crowing about withholding a billion dollars,..."

According to one report Biden did brag "about threatening to withhold aid in order to get a prosecutor fired, but there is no proof that Biden's son was the reason for this coercion. One presidential...3rd impeachment in this saeculum. One presidential assassination. The struggle for power in America is very strong this time around but between legislative and presidential. One teacher in AP US history had us write on the premise that war was only economics as oposed to the other reasons put forward of law, morality, conscience. However that may be in this case, this permanent struggle of power between right and left since the last great war, our culture is divided. Ethnic and racial divisions are one matter and conservative vs liberal morality another. These were always apparent since Hester Prynne wore a Scarlet letter for adultery. One might argue that the public fight between the branches of government is largely irrelevant as they are largely puppets of the rich who pull thir strings in the background. Democracy has long since ceased to exist. Laws are drawn up by big pharma, big banks, military contractors. What the clowns on the public stage do to one another is to them of little consequennce so long as their party remains undisturbed. Essentially, the belief in democracy helps the public sleep at night peaecefully. Obviously this endless feeding frenzy on presidential carrion is proof that there is no real power in the government. This power has moved elsewhere. The public switches channels to a better comedy in disgust. Thank God corporate America is more professional. Amazon, Walmart, IBM, Exxon operate the economy and the Pentagon, CIA secure us against foreign evils. Obviously players in that game take sides in the public drama, being mere humans with their emotional weaknesses. Trump is simply too unusual and blunt about things, rocking the boat of harmony in this corrupt system, imperialistic, corporocratic, plutocratic. In the end the democrats worry about having all the courts packed by ultraconservatives, ruling in social matters against their liberal worldview. Plutocrats would continue like Epstein regardless if puritanism ruled and abortion and homosexuality received the death penalty. As in Saudi Arabia our real rulers are beyond all laws. No doubt Biden did not see a problem with that.

"...They don't really know, to tell the truth, what an ambassador is for...." George F.
