The Carter recession was at least as bad and in a number of areas worse than that of the Bush II Administration. Reagan’s policies of tax relief for those that create jobs (hundreds of thousands of small businesses) ushered in 20 years of economic growth. GWB brought us out of the Clinton recession in record time with tax cuts. So we find that 800 billion+ borrowed to create a stimulus to the economy and CREATE jobs, has only HIGHER unemployment to show for the Obama Administration’s economic brilliance.Old Man by the Seahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10950068493884649516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8746692.post-68751265755516418112009-11-22T22:17:50.879-05:002009-11-22T22:17:50.879-05:00Mr. Kaiser:
I disagree with you on quite a few ...Mr. Kaiser:

I disagree with you on quite a few points:
(a) Doesn't really matter whether the presidents holds more press conferences/open forums and such things because nothing he'd said and promised so far materialized.
E.g. (i)There's no 3+ million jobs created from stimulus and people, except krugman and political economists of such ilk believe that stimuls was just a waste of huge sums of money in search of the purpose;
(ii)GITMO is not closed and the prisoners will be tried in NY City;
(iii)Huge sums of tax payers money have been wasted on GM and Chrysler, AIG and so on;
people simply do not trust him.

(b) One of the promises was a BIPARTISANSHIP. No one, that I know, has seen any sign of that.
This administration was NOT elected to shave their own agenda down the people's throat, but to execute people's agenda. BIPARTISANSHIP being one of the goals.

Hence you've seen the revolt of the electorate in NJ and Va. With more of the same to come in any kind of upcoming elections.

As for the Afghanistan decision, that would be more of the same indecisivness and vaccilations.
The administration has no clear policy and no clear goals.

Sometimes I ask myself why has the administration run to be elected if they cannot take the heat?

Copnstantly blaming someone else for anythung that is wrong does not cut it anymore.

Either the buck will stop with this administration of they will be lame after the 2010 elections and out of the office after 2012 election.

What do you think Mr. Kaiser?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8746692.post-26801207702884793782009-11-22T10:32:25.540-05:002009-11-22T10:32:25.540-05:00David , Just on the issue of Afghanistan the issue...David , Just on the issue of Afghanistan the issue of the huge amount of illict funds from the opium production seems to be less of an issue than it should be. Eight years ago Afghanistan was the source of about 35% of the world's heroin and today over 90%. With heroin wholesale prices at 6 to 14 thousand dollars a kilo there is a billion dollars a week flowing into Afghanistan and various criminsal elements hands . One can not grow opium poppies under cover. Our satilites know where every field is and can make good estimates of yield. Yet in order to 'win hearts and minds' our military have ceased eradication projects.I do hope President Obama weighs these factors into his decision making .Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8746692.post-9645797035206418452009-11-22T00:07:29.924-05:002009-11-22T00:07:29.924-05:00French General Michel Goya has just returned from ...French General Michel Goya has just returned from Afghanistan and the French Defense Ministry has published his comments in its IRSEM journal, available on line. Gen. Goya says the USA is spending a billion a week in Afghanistan.

So we have outflows of $2 billion a month in Iraq and $1 billion a week in Afghanistan with a doubtful end in sight and more billions flowing from the Treasury to these troubled assets and toxic insurance companies.

(You'll notice that all these Republican whiners never mention such outflows when lamenting the potential national health insurance plan. )

I have only 2 undergrad Economics courses (Macro and Micro) and as far as I know, there is no unified field theory of money or quantum cash theory according to which spending these utterly fantastic sums on losing wars and non job-creating (bank bailout) "stimulus" can be sustained.

Granted, there's the power consideration -the Soviet Union survived as a superpower for 40 years after WWII with an unconvertible currency, but how long can the power component endure before there are dire consequences for everyone in this country?Nur-al-Cubiclehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13240215262850274264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8746692.post-11027796174123360182009-11-21T22:52:50.504-05:002009-11-21T22:52:50.504-05:00Looks like Obama isn't doing the best job in l...Looks like Obama isn't doing the best job in living up to his initial promises. http://www.pressdisplay.com/pressdisplay/showlink.aspx?bookmarkid=8KX3ADX33396&preview=article&linkid=f1ebcafc-42f7-4bab-ad83-cf22eb3b708d&pdaffid=ZVFwBG5jk4Kvl9OaBJc5%2bg%3d%3d

Best regards,
MediaMentionsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
