It's a tactic as old as time. Fail to fund or maintain something, then campaign on "removing that eyesore." That "the eyesore" is the entire federal government leads one to wonder if a lot of the money behind it comes from nations that would love to bring us down.
What, I wonder, will the electorate do when the Republicans capture total control of the government, and continue to work, not to make it succeed in the interests of the country as a whole, but to make it fail? Will the electorate regard failure as success, in spite of the pain this causes for everyone, and continue to support the Republicans? If so, it seems to me that the era of American prosperity and power, of American world leadership, will be at an end, and the rise of China will follow, with dire consequences for the free world.
